As the new intern here at the penthouse offices of TDS, it has fallen to me to sort through the sea of mail that lands in our account like a daily tsunami which recedes to leave behind all manner of audio riffraff. In exchange for subjecting myself to near un-listenable obscurities in genres like death metal and nu-polka, I get to cherry pick and report on some of the coolest shit out there.
Anyway, we’ll see how much time I have to keep up with the email onslaught as I do have other duties to attend to. Between making the perfect latte to perfecting my fellatio skills, the powers that be around here are real taskmasters.

The Fire and Reason came to the attention of many with their win of the VH1/Logo NewNewNext award in the Brink of Fame: Music category. They now hang out with the likes of Steve Aoki, recently performing at the 30th birthday party for the aging hipster deity. Point of this blurb being that several of their tracks got the remix treatment, with my personal favourite of the stack below.

Voidstar and Its Overture put together yet another remix of nerdling comedians The Lonely Island. I have yet to pin down why, but I like it more after each listen. The production values aren’t exactly professional, there isn’t a whole lot going on, but it’s edgy and catchy at the same time. Regardless, these guys know their music and I have the distinct feeling we’ll be seeing more of them.

Moving right along, gotta give some rezpekt to the always crowd pleasing Hood Internet. It need not be said that these dudes are the hands down kings of the mashup; they manage to shoehorn two tracks together into some of the slickest and sickest new creations.

So apparently in this jittering smasher, Lady Chann is dropping mad bombs about nailing some other girls boyfriend and thus a ‘sticky situation’ ensues. I’ll admit that my my ability to decipher the lyrics are suspect at best, and I really only understand about a third of it. Anyhoo, Lady Chann is undoubtedly good at what she does lending the track some serious vocal energy whilst Toddla T thumps the subs with an uptempo, percussive beat.

Don’t really know too much about Vindata. Apparently he (or they) hang out mainly in California. He (or they) also make music. He (or they) probably like stuff, eat from time to time, and also sleep when necessary. I have also heard the rumor that he (or they) often travel from point A to point B, as well as other points in between. He (or they) are truly a fascinating study.
And yes, being an intern, I can get away with this blatant lack of knowledge. Suck it, Trebek.

Yes, I’m aware a million remixes of Amanda Blank’s Might Like You Better have been made. And yes, I’m aware that the track might just be getting a little long in the tooth. But don’t think that means that I’ll toss a decent new remix in the trash. And Andrew Decade’s take on the track is certainly more than decent. A sliced and choppy slammer, this electro beauty demands to be listened to (even if Andrew Decade is the only person on the planet who sends music to MP3 blogs in M4A format thus making them incompatible with most webplayers out there… *ahem*).
