The Young Punx are a London-based collective of eclectic electronic musicans, headed up by multi-instrumentalist producer Hal Ritson. Over the past few years they have firmly established themselves as the new darlings of UK dance music, with many of the world’s top DJs championing their records and over 100 BBC Radio 1 plays to date.
After ignoring our inbox for almost a week, I found a couple different emails that involved some YP material. The Young Punx’s track ‘MASHitUP’ has a brand new remix out by German DJ/producer Shir Khan. This is a great track (although I’ve never heard the original): loopy electronic hard bouncin’ dance music — it’ll make sense when you listen. This is not a track to be ignored.

The Young Punx – MASHitUP (Shir Khan Remix)
Apparently The Young Punx are a fan of mash-ups (blend definitely is a better term). I used to really like mash-ups for taking two shitty tracks and making them awesome. Young Punx has blended together ‘Mars’ by Fake Blood and ‘Music Sounds Better Than You’ by Stardust. The comment in the MP3 says, “With many apologies to Sang, Thomas and Guy-Manuel.” Guy wasn’t involved, it was just Alan Braxe and Banglater. This mash-up is a great mix but as I DJ it’s something I’d want to attempt live myself rather than play out. For those who don’t DJ or are too lazy to it yourself, this is one track that’ll get a party moving (Stardust always seems to be able to do that).

The Young Punx – Mars Sounds Better With Me (Fake Blood vs. Stardust)
Next up is a classic, well 2006 classic. The Swedish duo known as The Similou had a single out that got a lot of attention by the name of ‘All This Love.’ The Young Punx made excellent work of the extremely poppy track and transformed it into a very worthy, but cheesy, house track. I first heard this track in a Hed Kandi mix/compilation.
Check out the video for original. Trippy.
