Ok, you won’t believe this. A huge shit storm has erupted due to a show preview article in the Ottawa Citizen.
Apparently after the publication of the article, the Ottawa police called the owners of the Clocktower and told them not to let us have the party. INSANE!
So we have moved the party to new location down the road.

For those of you that are not attending Method Man and Redman event at the Civic centre in Ottawa this Saturday, you should come see the likes of Golden Girls, 84.85, TMDP and DJ Barletta live at the Humphreys.
Hailing from Toronto (but has roots in Ottawa I believe), Golden Girls is a one man pop band whose otherwise known as Mats Vlahovich. He describes his music as “shock-rock disco jock” which is fitting. Mats draws influence heavily from the 1980s using older sounds to create a pop-rock electronic dance party. His voice seems somewhat reminiscent to 80s new wave post-punk such as Robert Smith of The Cure. Simply put, Golden Girls is just great pop music.

TMDP is a electronic music duo who performs live PAs using laptops, synthesizers and midi controllers. Simple yet elegant dance music flows out of the hard and soft keys of this Torontonian group. Check out an example on youtube here, and their track ‘Balcone’ below.

Out of the live acts this Saturday, the last one is 84.85. This is another group from Toronto made of three. Their prerogative: electro-rap. Darker than the current trend of distorted electro beats, 84.85 evolved from Cassius and Jay Bones, who met in College, becoming an outlet for creative musical expression. Bored by what was happening with Hip Hop, Cas and Jay’s styles evolved to create an edgier sound with hyper driven beats and buzz saw synths.
Finally, DJ Barletta will be making his first (but not his last) appearance since hitting in big on the blogsphere. He’ll be the only DJ at the Clocktower this Saturday, but what’s a good dance party without some electro crunk? You know who he is.
