If the crowd is slippin, nothin will bring them back quicker than a really popular melody with a good bassline, not something that vaguely sounds like a song they know, but is so cut up it doesn't have the same flavor. that'll just push em away more because they think you won't play their favorite songs. If you're going to "release" a remix to the public/blogosphere I think it should be something a little more than going into Garageband or some other audio interface and speeding it up...
