Justin Faust

13Sep08

Justin Faust has restored my faith in electronic music. There’s a lot of “bad” electronic music that I like — sometimes it has ridiculous lyrics or would just work perfectly for the club, but when it comes to actually listening to completely electronically composed music there’s only a few artists I can really respect. Off the top of my head, Alan Braxe and Fred Falke come to mind which is to no surprise are some of Justin’s “Top Friends” on his myspace.

Justin’s style is pretty synonymous to the French touch movement except for the fact that he’s German. He was lucky enough to grow up with a composer and producer as a father leading him to become friends with the Moog, the Prophet, the Linndrum and a Notator sequencersystem.

Faust started producing house-music in 1992 and released several records over the years, including two releases on “Suburban Knightz”, two albums with his Modern-Jazz-Crew “Dom & Jazz Support”, a mini-LP on the highly acclaimed Netlabel Thinner “Cascades” and an EP on Steve Bugs and Vincenzos “Dessous Recordings”.

There’s lots to choose from below, but it’s all excellent. My personal favourite is ‘Nightliner.’

Check out Faust’s remix of Daft Punk’s ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger.’
Epically smooth.
