We’ve got more music somehow related to the 1970s automobile “DeLorean.” Hot Pink Delorean reppin’ Boston is a DJ/producer trio. This past year they’ve got some important recognition via their remixes and are starting to make an impact on the industry.
We first saw HPD about a month ago when Plant Music was promoting The Glass’ “Mad At You” EP and again when Ninja Tune personally us a their remix of a Qemists track. The labels are using HPD as a promotional device and we can see why: their production value is high and their remixes perfectly balance the original material with the new.
Today we’ve got three new remixes from Hot Pink including Katy Perry, Britney Spears’ newer single off Blackout and Totally Michael from the IHEARTCOMIX imprint.
Michael’s remix is my favourite of the bunch. As some of you might know, TM’s sound resembles 80s power-synth-pop pretty closely. I’m not really a big fan of it, but the lyrics in ‘Casual Satisfaction’ are hilarious enough to enjoy it. HPD murders that track giving it a brand new sound and using the vox appropriately.
