Legendary hip-hop outfit EPMD is back after a 9 year hiatus. On September 9th, EPMD will release their 7th LP “We Mean Business” to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The people over at Scion A/V did it again, and thought it would be a great marketing ploy to release EPMD’s new single ‘Run It’ remixed by a bunch of notable electronic DJs. Hervé and Sinden each provide a release for this EP, separately (if you didn’t know, Hervé and Sinden make up the Sinden and The Count of Monte Cristal or The Count and Sinden). These gents pump out what you’d expect outta them: dance floor bangin’.
Although most of you (should) know those two boys, the EP also features another UK DJ/producer by the name of Duke Dumont who’s past up and coming, but not a brand name… yet. Duke Dumont flips the track in a truly unique fashion using a bhangra-style drum loop and eastern flute sample. Clocking in at 93 BPM, this version sounds like an Egyptian block party banger with some of the freshest drums this side of the orient making it by far the most interesting, and in my opinion, the best remix on this EP.
Cheers Dumont.
