Van Helder

16Aug08

Van Helder is back on THE DOCKING STATION but this time without the aid of DJ Barletta. Although I have heard those two are working on another collaboration with each other, Van Helder has send us a new original funk/disco track and a disco remix.

The funky original ‘CTD’ features a very “French touch” bass line and bongos. The track takes a very minimalistic approach to dance music and utilizes few sounds well. Although perhaps not the best track for listening to by itself, when applied properly in a similar genre-specific mix.. the effect could be perfect.

Van Helder – CTD

Helder’s remix of Jensen Sportag follows the same style as CTD as it strips down to the bare essentials. The original version of ‘Jackie’ is a hyphy space-aged disco theme some with unintelligible lyrics. The remix follows the same suit but adds those nasty synths and glitches the vocals… making them even more difficult to understand.
