This past weekend a couple of us from the Docksta crew spent some coin on a trip to the great city of Montréal to see Diplo. Entering into a city where I don’t speak the first official language is never easy. Of course most of the island is anglo and we stayed with a bunch of McGill kids anyways: but I’m always a little concerned. Just not comfortable with the idea of being lost in a place like that.
Of course something had to go wrong. I had neglected to save or carry any real change for coat-check. Fuck it, we’ll just hold the coats or throw em in a corner right? Nuh uh. 1234 Montreal, on de la Montange has none of this coat holding shit so off to the ATMs to find some cash.
Turns out I only had $18.55 in my bank account which is $1.45 off from minimum takeout allowance. I try the credit card with the tough-ass limit and well… turns out I forgot my code for that. Mike, of course, is broke.
So there we are stranded looking for some place with cash back or I don’t know even beg… although I didn’t wanna beg in English. After about 2 hours of searching for five bucks we called up Mike’s Montréal resident (fucking awesome) girlfriend who was nice enough to deliver us $20. God bless her soul.
So around 1am we made it in the god damn door. We missed DJ Sega and Hatchmatik, but boo-hoo next time. Rye Rye started and finished her set by 1:30 and Diplo finished off the night.
It was a pretty exciting experience with all that added tension of not having $5 cash that probably made Wesley that much entertaining. Joining him on stage (but not playing) included DJ Booth from Jokers of the Scene and A-trak who came to well, get drunk.
Also the soft-core porn photographer of Last Nights Party was there making DL Famous. We’re being famous in the back of the crowd. I ain’t got no breasts.
Anyways, thanks to D.L. Jones and the whole Peer Pressure family for a good night out. Peace.
